Students at area elementary schools will have fun, exciting and innovative places to play when they return to school in August. New playgrounds are being installed at Tuscaloosa City elementary schools this summer. These upgrades are part of construction, renovation and capital improvements taking place as part of the TCS Strategic Plan.
Kompan Playground Solutions is the manufacturer of the outdoor recreational equipment going in at TCS neighborhood elementary schools. Kompan specializes in designing age-appropriate, inclusive and high-quality products combining stringent environmental standards and exceptional play value.
“These school playground projects really exemplify the acknowledgement from the Tuscaloosa City Schools that providing kids with lots of play value opportunities like spinning, climbing, sliding, balancing and gathering make for a better school day,” says Luci Beaver of Kompan.
Interim superintendent Mike Daria said this demonstrates a commitment to community.
“We want our school campuses to be more than just learning centers between the hours of eight and three,” he said. “We believe these playgrounds offer an opportunity to strengthen neighborhoods when families enjoy the equipment in the evenings and on weekends.”
Installation has already begun or will begin at all sites by July 18. The completion of this project is expected by the first week in August, just in time for the start of the new school year. Work at several sites is already complete.
