TCS Hosting Fifth Annual Apple Awards

Apple Awards TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Tuscaloosa City Schools is set to honor 69 employees Dec. 19 at the system’s fifth annual Apple Awards ceremony.

The event recognizes teachers and support staff members. System-level winners will be unveiled at the event to represent the district at state-level competitions in the Alabama Teacher of the Year and Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame recognition programs.

The following teachers have been selected as school-level winners for the Alabama Teacher of the Year recognition program:

Ten overall system winners will be named in these categories: Alabama Teacher of the Year (Elementary Category), Alabama Teacher of the Year (Secondary Category), Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame (Elementary Category), Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame (Middle School Category), Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame (High School Category), TCS Support Employee of the Year (Elementary Category), TCS Support Employee of the Year (Middle School Category), TCS Support Employee of the Year (High School Category), TCS Support Employee of the Year (Central Office) and TCS Support Employee of the Year (Transportation Department).

The event is open to the public and set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy (TCTA), which is located at 2800 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

The ceremony is co-sponsored by the Professional Educators of Tuscaloosa and Employee Support Personnel.
