Arcadia Elementary hosted a Veteran's Day Program on Tuesday, November 8, 2017, at 1:30 pm in the Magnet Elementary gymnasium. The Arcadia faculty, staff, and students remembered and paid respect to all of the soldiers and families who have served in the United States military. The Paul W. Bryant Junior ROTC led the audience in the March of Colors. Fourth and fifth graders entertained the crowd and set the tone by encouraging a sing along to great patriotic songs such as The Star Spangled Banner and A Patriotic Medley. Four students read poems titled, "To the Soldiers of America." La’Nyah Jemerson, Jayden Jemison and Anna Eastup shared creative writings about what Veteran’s Day means to them. During the Armed Forces Medley, a tribute recognized the different military branches and veterans as they were asked to stand, as their branch was called. Pre-K students prepared thank you cards to send to veterans that were unable to attend the program and for those present. All of the classes created artwork that was on display for the Veteran's Day celebration. As a culminating event, the teachers and students walked to the front lawn to place flags along the drive to honor the Veterans. The annual Veteran's Day Program was a special way for our students to display respect and reverence by listening and sharing in patriotism for our great nation and those who have served bravely.
